VINTAGE DESK
MODEL AIRPLANES After
WWII Collecting scale model airplanes both civilian and military grew
into a popular hobby. Made of various materials from paper to bronze, one of
the most popular manufacturers was TOPPING MODELS. TOPPING's
plastic models made by an injection mold process, produced millions of models
for the defense department, airplane manufactures such as Grumman and
Boeing, as well as airlines for advertising and promotional purposes from
the mid 1940's until their closing in 1965. Bob
Fisher is helping a long time friend and toy soldier collector, Dr. Bill
McDade dispose of
his vintage desk model airplane collection. Dr McDade, son of a WWII Naval Aviator, himself
a former Naval flight surgeon amassed this collection primary in the
1960's. With over 150 models to choose from they include civilian, military
both jet and prop, NASA rockets and missiles. Manufacturers
